How Dangerous is the Mold in Your Bathroom?

The mold may or may not be dangerous depending on the species and types. Some molds are toxic whereas others are not.

However, the molds that have a considerable mycotoxin amount can cause persistent headaches, upper respiratory tract infections, lung diseases and much more.

The molds with carcinogenic and more dangerous kind of mycotoxin quantities can even cause cancer or death depending on the exposure.

Ways to Remove Bathroom Black Mold:

Depending on how willing you are to put in the effort and how serious your mold problem is, you can choose to remove the mold yourself or you can choose to have it removed professionally.

If you choose to remove it yourself, be sure to wear gloves and use proper protection before continuing and here are a few ways to remove mold from the shower,

Use Ammonia

Ammonia is readily available in most hardware stores and it very cheap.

Use an absorbent cloth or a towel and soak it in the ammonia, wipe off the ammonia from the shower cabinet if it is made of glass or if the mold is on tiles.

How to kill mold

If, however, the mold is on the wall, ammonia may no longer be an option because ammonia will not kill the roots of the mold growth.

In that case, you can use commercially available mold removal sprays.

Mold removal sprays can cost an extra buck but are by far the most successful agents against mold growth.

Simply spray the content on the mold that is growing anywhere near the shower, then wipe off with a cloth.

Do it as many times as needed. Be sure to completely clear any mold including the roots so that the mold does not grow back again.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

Vinegar is domestically available and is probably the cheapest way to get rid of mold. You can use vinegar to remove mold from anywhere, tiles, glass, and the wall.

Simply dab it on a towel or a piece of absorbent cloth and wipe off the mold.

If the mold leaves a stain on the surface, then baking soda is used to remove that.

Mix an adequate amount of baking soda with water and apply it on a cloth. Simply wipe off the stain. You may have to rub on it a couple of times.

Vinegar and baking is a very effective combination from removing mold from almost anywhere.

Taking Precautions

Mold is very unsightly and here are a few things you can do to make sure it does not come back again and again.

You can use a dehumidifier to reduce moisture and you can turn the exhaust on for a couple of hours a day to keep the bathroom dry.
